Mother's Day Celebration

Mummy said it's been a long time we, the whole family, never have a sumptuous dinner together..

Therefore, daddy decided to go to fine-dining Japanese or Korean restaurant because mummy loves Japanese and Korean food rather than Western. This is for Mother's Day Celebration too.

After doing some research on the Internet, eldest brother suggest Tamashii Robataya, which is located at the Level 2 of The Offshore Building, North Canal Road (near Boat Quay). It serves one of the best robatayaki (traditional Japanese grilled, cooked in front of customer and served direct) in town.

It was definitely a unique culinary experience at Tamashii Robataya begins with the freshest Japanese ingredients showcased for your selection.

Grilled squid. I'm not a squid lover but I'm so in love with this. It was grilled with sea salt and squeeze the slices of lemon on it. That's all but it's so amazing and the squid is grilled just nice, not too chewy. I love it!

So excited by this grilled whole Chikodai Shioyaki. The young sea bream was display at the counter for your selection. It is only slightly flavored with a little salt, so beautifully grilled and fleshy. Just look out for those tiny bones!

I forgot what this called. It's a soup cooked with the meat of the seashell and serves in its shell.

Clam with rice wine

Grilled black pork

Fish cake to eat with chopped ginger

Here's the sashimi. Sashimi must be really fresh to taste good. This is definitely the best sashimi I have ever eat. The salmon is so fatty and it melts in your mouth. Heaven!

They serves free free-flow sencha.

This meal cost us more than $400.

"Shine like a DIAMOND" Dinner and Dance

I have join the company for more than 2 years and finally have dinner and dance.. The theme for the D&D is 'Shine like a DIAMOND'. All of us are encourage to wear shiny and eye catching just like a diamond. It was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Ballroom.

The registration starts at 6.30pm and there is photo booth for us to take some group photo. There is also sparkling counter for you to have sparkling tattoos.
It is so called 'cocktail party' from 6.30pm to 7.30pm .. But they actually serves soft drinks only.

We enter the ballroom at 7.30pm and after all guest seated according to arranged table, the dinner starts. All the food are serves in a personal portion.

There is different menu for Muslim and non-Muslim.

What you think about the food after seeing the photos? I got to say the food is not as expected. When the food was served, it's already cold. They are supposed to make sure food is served hot. This is not cold plates you know. I actually quite disappointed with it. For drinks, we actually get to choose red wine, white wine, soft drink or plain water.

It is definitely a fun and memorable night with all the colleagues.. To be more specific, they are now my ex-colleagues..  I miss you guys and the memories we shared together at work will always alongwith me.

I LOVE EATING

I’ve been too busy recently and whenever I have spare time I just wanna rest or have fun .. thus .. It's already few months not updating my blog .. and been forgetting about it ...

1. Mellben Seafood @ Toa Payoh
As you might know, crab is their signature dish. Its menu features a selection of crab dishes such as chili crab, black pepper crab, claypot crab vermicelli, shimmering sand crab, butter crab and more..

Shimmering crab - It's a combination of butter and oat.. So you can have this without wondering whether to order pay or butter crab. But for me, I would prefer butter crab instead of shimmering crab.. It is because the oat sprinkler on top is a bit hard instead crunchy.. And there is not much taste of oat.. Overall, it's still a delicious dish.

Of course we must have chili crab.. Chilli crab is signature dish in our Lion City, and Mellben's chili crab is one of the best. You can always have a big fat crab in thick, spicy and slightly sweet chili sauce. The sauce is so yummy to dip with some fried mantou.

Salted egg drumlet is also a must try.. We always get to eat salted egg squid or prawn but seldom have it with fried drumlet. Mellben's salted egg drumlet is so nice that I can finish the whole plate by myself. It is so crunchy and coated so well with salted egg, but a bit spicy because of the chili padi.

A very special dish which I really love - sweet and sour pork with lychee in ice..  When you eat the pork, it is cold at the surface but still crunchy and inside is still warm.. But the bad thing is ice melts, soake sure you finish it fast or at least before all the ice melts and the pork soaked in water.

2. Jamie's Italian @ VivoCity
Think you guys must be familiar with the name Jamie Oliver, a celebrity chef. Yup, Jamie's Italian serves fantastic, rustic dishes, using recipes that Jamie Oliver loves.

It's really really cheesy that I feel 'jelak' to have a second one.. But the taste is real good..

This is Crab and Avocado Bruschetta. It's a sourdough bread topped with crab meat, avocado and natural yoghurt, with mint, apple, chili and lemon. The bread is crunchy and the topping of Apple, mint and lemon made it so refreshing.

Grilled chicken - marinated chicken breast with olive and caper sauce topped with slices of crunchy bacon. I know that many does not like chicken breast because they think it is dry and boring. But this chicken breast meat is still juicy. For me, chicken breast is the best because it is healthier, unlike the oily flabby chicken thighs.

Jool's Favourite Tuna Fusilli
Sprinkle the spoonful crunchy herby breadcrumbs over the tuna Fusilli. Damn nice!

How can I miss the cocktail! Icy cool cocktail with refreshing mint is the best after a meal on a sunny day noon.

3. Pollen @ Flower Dome, Garden by the Bay
Special experience of Mediterranean inspired cuisine with the unique environment of the Flower Dome at Garden by the Bay. A fantastic place to have afternoon tea after photo session in the Flower Dome.

Linguine Carbonara - with bacon chunks and cheese flakes. It is creamy and cheesy which I suggest to eat it while it served hot. I actually shared it with both my brothers because I actually feel 'jelak' to finish it on my own.

Omg it's heaven! Gianduja Lemon ($12)
It's pricey for this small round cake but I think it's worth the try. It is beautifully shiny glazed and rich in chocolate with a lil lemon taste and some nut inside.

Cappuccino - totally perfect in the afternoon

Darjeeling tea

4. 姑妈家 @ Macpherson Road
I was working at Macpherson Road before the accounts dept being moved to Changi South. This is to farewell with our asst manager before moving. The dishes are just like mom's cook which makes you feel at home..
